Media Training & Public Education

AAJ serves as a messaging and media resource for AAJ members covering all aspects of media relations. AAJ also educates the public about the importance of having access to a fair and effective civil justice system through traditional and online media and AAJ’s public education campaigns, Take Justice Back and Trial Lawyers Care

AAJ staff works with members to help them best communicate their message. Our trainings cover the following:

  • The fundamentals of working with print, broadcast, and online media,
  • Social media best practices for attorneys, and
  • Guidelines for crafting an effective message.

Take Justice Back is the public education and grassroots campaign launched by the American Association for Justice to restore accountability, promote safety, and ensure Americans have access to justice. Take Justice Back uses real stories and facts to directly take on the myths and propaganda pushed by corporate front groups. The campaign encourages Americans to join the fight to take back their rights by sharing their own stories and writing Congress, federal agencies, & corporate CEOs.

Trial Lawyers Care was established after the 9/11 terrorist attacks to provide free legal services to any family who applied for help from the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. This effort was the largest pro bono legal representation project in history. The volunteer spirit of the plaintiff bar continues through AAJ’s present day Trial Lawyers Care initiative, which encourages and highlights the volunteer and community outreach projects of trial lawyers.

AAJ’s Communications team protects and defends the civil justice system in the media. They highlight the efforts of AAJ members in an out of the courtroom and push back on so-called tort reform. They work with the media on issues important to trial lawyers and their clients as well as legislative and regulatory issues impacting the trial bar.
