Trial Lawyers Care
After the attacks on September 11, 2001, trial lawyers pledged to do what they do best—give a voice to the voiceless. They promised to provide free legal services to any family wishing to seek help through a newly created federal fund. Trial Lawyers Care (TLC) was the non-profit organization created to make those free legal services possible.
More than 1,100 Trial Lawyers Care volunteers:
- Counseled 4,000 families, helping those from 35 states and 11 countries.
- Provided pro bono representation to more than 1,700 families who applied for federal financial help.
- Dedicated a combined total of more than 100 years of service on these cases.
Today, TLC is a committee of AAJ that serves to encourage, recognize, and organize trial lawyers who contribute to their communities through volunteer and charitable activities that serve the public good.
It offers AAJ members an opportunity to enhance the value of their membership, and to renew their pride and enjoyment of being a trial lawyer by becoming involved in activities that improve the well-being of the people in their communities. TLC members participate in community service projects at the AAJ Annual and Winter Conventions, organize disaster relief inititiatves across the country, share information about opportunities for trial lawyers to give back, and recognize exceptional work with the annual Trial Lawyers Care Award.
TLC has built a team of trial lawyers across the country who are committed to the proposition of “doing well by doing good.”
